This evening we went to see the Holiday Show at AGP. As others have reported, it was ridiculously packed all throughout Midtown. (I'm a NY-er so I know how to deal with crowds, but that doesn't mean I like them. ) By the time we went in to AGP, there wasn't a line anymore, luckily! I saw the show with my mom and three cousins. My 8-year-old cousin wore my Samantha Christmas dress (see signature pic!) and we all had a great time. She made out like a bandit between her mother, her aunt, and me and my mom buying her holiday presents!
The show was different than I'd imagined, but really, really sweet. Eight friends were preparing to go caroling, and decorated one of their houses for Christmas. All the while, they sang different Holiday songs and gave the backgrounds behind them. Parts of it were really touching. The Las Posadas and St. Lucia processionals were great, and I got very teary during "Yes, Virginia, There Is A Santa Claus" and Silent Night. They gave the history behind Silent Night which was sweet. Some songs were a capella and the harmonies were beautiful. Of course, there was the mention of various American Girls and their holiday celebrations.
I didn't buy much (in anticipation of a new code) but I did buy Elizabeth's trading cards and a great gift for the $6 Secret Santa! Walking by the Rockefeller Center Tree is always a treat, too.
